The National Para Games 2023 in Abuja have been nothing less, but absolute dominance for defending champions Bayelsa State as its contingents took off where it left in the previous edition.

It was a memorable one for the oil riched Niger Delta State in the first ever National Para Games in Abuja where it emerged champions, and that is looking likely in the second edition after dominating in almost all the sports so far.

As at day-5 at 6:45pm, Team Bayelsa had already recorded 39 gold, 28 silver and 20 bronze, thus surpassing previous record of 30 gold, 33 silver and 32 bronze.

In a record breaking outing, Team Bayelsa is already in first position in the official medal table producing medals in PARA BADMINTON, 4 SILVER and 1 BRONZE while WHEELCHAIR TENNIS, 1 SILVER and 2 BRONZE.

Similarly, PARA CANOEING, 13 GOLD, 7 SILVER and 1 BRONZE and as well as PARA SWIMMING, 11 GOLD, 5 SILVER and 1 BRONZE.

In same vein, PARA TAEKWONDO, 2 GOLD, 3 SILVER and 1 BRONZE coupled with PARA POWERLIFTING, 1 GOLD and 1 BRONZE.

Meanwhile, PARA ATHLETIC produced, 10 GOLD, 1 SILVER and 1 BRONZE followed by PARA SHOOTING recording 2 SILVER and 1 BRONZE

Additionally, PARA KARATE, 1 SILVER and 2 BRONZE while PARA TABLE TENNIS, 2 GOLD, 2 SILVER and 6 BRONZE and PARA CYCLING, 2 SILVER and 3 BRONZE.

More action attraction to follow on Thursday the final day of the eventful 2nd edition of the National Para Games in Abuja.
