Governor Douye Diri’s Ideology For State Youth Engagement In Promoting Skills, Innovation And Entrepreneurship, No One Behind”

As we are all aware we are celebrating the World Youth Skills Day coming up tomorrow with the Theme: Skilling Teachers, Trainers and Youth for a Transformative Future. It is a day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate Youths who have succeeded in their own way due to the Skills they have learnt. The need for a special day to mark the Youth Skills Day cannot be overemphasized.

The World as it is today has become a Global village where ideas of importance are shared amongst Nations to encourage Youths from all Nations to show case their talent and also encourage other Youths to acquire skills that will make them self-reliant.

Also, Skill Development among Youth all over the World has taken a new dimension, as our Youths are now leading in the Development of Electronic Digital Skills.

The rising World Population and lack of job opportunities for Youth, has therefore, become necessary for every youth to engage themselves with relevant skills that can make them self-reliant.

Technical and Vocationally Educational Training (TVET) can provide the training need of thousands of Youth in our State.

The prosperity Government has done so much in the area of TVET and that has made our Youths to be skillfully engaged in diverse skills including the provision of starter packs to successful trainees.

From 2021 till date that State Government has successfully trained thousands of Youth in different skills.

We are proud to say that the State Government has done so much for our Teaming Youths.

This is the time to be skilled as a youth and shun excuses, criminality, begging and others that do not promote the face of a youth in our society. The youthful age is a productive age and taking advantage of this age is all you need and this administration has offered the opportunity to take advantage of your productive days by learning a skill and putting it into productive work.

Governor Douye has made his commitment known that Youth Development is building a self-reliant youth and one undisputed way to doing this, is to provide skill acquisition and development with a matching means to put the acquired skills to productivity. This is the Prosperity of the youths we glamour for and we encourage Stakeholders and Youths to embrace and support this ideology of His Excellency.

As we commemorate the World Youth Skills Day, it is expedient we embrace and project the vision of Governor Diri as this day stands as a day to advocate for skill acquisition and development among youths.

As a State, it is also important for us to celebrate the hero of Skill Acquisition and Development for Youths in Bayelsa State, “His Excellency Senator Douye Diri”. This Government has been committed to bringing 21st Century skills to Bayelsa Youths and this is already been recorded as the Government in partnership with the SDG has covered many skills for Bayelsa Youths.

The concept of skill promotion and entrepreneurship development by this administration transcends only training and sending out successful trainees to struggle to start up their acquired skills but intentionally providing the starter packs and the enabling environment for these skills to strive and have a resultant productivity in the state.

Youths at this time have a handful of opportunities and lack excuses for not being productive and resourceful as the deliberate vision and actions of the government are accessible to all.
