A first-half brace from Abraham Ayibaitari propelled Nembe City FC to a 2-0 victory over Peace FC of Yenagoa in a round of 32 clash at the Otuasega Township Stadium during the ongoing Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament—the Prosperity Cup, Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle.

Ayibaitari, who played a crucial role in securing the Nembe LGA title, opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a powerful left-footed strike. He doubled the lead a minute later, sealing Nembe City’s dominance in the fixture.

Crusaders FC, Sangana FC, and Citiboi FC Secure Victories

At the same venue, former champions Crusaders FC of Peretorugbene cruised past Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry (MFM FC) with a 2-0 win, courtesy of a brace from Vincent Great in the 32nd and 54th minutes, securing their place in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, at the Nembe City Stadium, Sangana FC of Brass LGA edged Ayalla FC of Ogbia LGA in a nail-biting 3-2 encounter. Super George opened the scoring with a stunning header in the 4th minute, followed by a 7th-minute strike from Matthew Tobin.

Despite Gibson Haukins pulling one back for Ayalla FC in the 29th minute, Tobin struck again just five minutes into the second half to make it 3-1. Ayalla FC fought back in the 54th minute, but Sangana FC held firm for the win.

In another intense showdown, Ogbia champions Citiboi FC of Imiringi held their nerve to defeat Igoni FC of Odioma in Twon Brass, prevailing 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Pere Richard fired Citiboi FC ahead in the 48th minute, but Ofunajo George responded in the 78th minute, forcing the match into a tense shootout.

Federal University Otuoke FC, PNA FC Continue Their Fine Form

Over at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Federal University Otuoke FC stunned Afini FC of Yenagoa with a 4-3 penalty victory, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time to book their spot in the round of 16.

In the second match at the venue, PNA FC of Koluama in Southern Ijaw LGA dispatched Seaside Academy 2-0, maintaining their impressive 19-goal tally in the competition without conceding any.
