Wodu FC Disqualified Over Rule Violation
The Central Organizing Committee (COC) of the Prosperity Cup has disqualified Wodu FC from the competition following allegations of rule violations.
In a statement signed by Tournament Director Mr. Perela Aboro and Director General Mr. Ono Akpe, the COC confirmed that Wodu FC was found guilty of breaching Section Six, Subsection One (j) of the tournament rules. Investigations revealed that Wodu FC registered sixteen players from Midlands Football Club in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, an act deemed as a violation.
The decision followed an extensive meeting with the disciplinary committee after an appeal filed by Bayelsa Stars FC on March 31, 2025.
Further investigations, including an interview with a bus driver, confirmed that his vehicle (registration number AAA 504 XM) transported Wodu FC players to and from Port Harcourt for matches.
As a consequence of this blatant disregard for the rules, Wodu FC is disqualified, and their scheduled opponent automatically advances to the next round.
The COC has announced that additional disciplinary measures will be invoked against Wodu FC and its coach in an expanded meeting soon. The committee urges all participating teams to adhere strictly to the tournament regulations.
