The penultimate round of matches in the round of 16 of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament—popularly known as the Prosperity Cup—has concluded.
EGM FC, Bayelsa United Feeders, Movers FC Advance
In Friday morning’s early kickoff at the Samson Siasia Stadium, former champions Eternal Grace Ministry (EGM FC) cruised past Royal All Stars with a dominant 4-0 victory to secure a quarter-final berth.
Godknows Ikpe opened the floodgates in the 16th minute, finishing off a beautiful buildup to find the back of the net. Samuel Pedro doubled the lead in the 33rd minute with a well-delivered cross, while Izou made it three just before halftime.
EGM FC sealed the win in the 79th minute, as Godknows Ikpe struck again from close range to complete the 4-0 rout.
In the second game at the same venue, Bayelsa United Feeders edged Sagbama LGA champions Agbere FC 5-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time. Movers FC of Otuasega also triumphed 3-2 on penalties over Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, securing their quarter-final ticket.
Advance Dreams FC, Youbolobo FC Secure Victory
At the Niger Delta University (NDU) Arena, Advance Dreams FC of Yenagoa battled past Akeddei FC of Akeddei, securing a 3-2 victory to book their quarter-final spot.
Meanwhile, at the Amassoma Centre, Youbolobo FC of Agge dispatched Adaka FC of Kaiama with a comfortable 2-0 win.
The Ekeremor LGA side sealed their qualification courtesy of second-half goals from Epini Amos and Ume David, scored in the 57th and 66th minutes, respectively.
