The Bayelsa State Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Champion Daniel Igali, has called on the state-owned club, Bayelsa United, to hit the ground running as the new NPFL season gets underway this weekend.

The world and Olympic champion based his call on the past two seasons, during which Bayelsa United has battled for survival.

In a message to the club, Champion Igali emphasized the importance of Bayelsa United starting the season strongly, as it would boost their confidence and help them achieve the club’s objectives this year.

He stressed that Bayelsa United is a vital part of the A.S.S.U.R.E.D agenda of the Prosperity Government led by Governor Douye Diri, with the goal of seeing the club compete at the highest level of club competitions.

Daniel Igali noted that Governor Diri wants Bayelsa United to be recognized among the best teams in the country and beyond.

Meanwhile, the Sports Commissioner praised the management and staff of Bayelsa United for aligning with the government’s plan and for their adequate pre-season preparations.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that the club’s objectives are achieved.

Bayelsa United will kick off their 2024-2025 campaign away from home against Sunshine Stars of Akure.
