Bayelsa State’s Commissioner for Sports Development, Honorable Daniel Igali, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bayelsa Queens following their triumphant performance to secure the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six title in Ikenne, Ogun State.
In a dominant display, Bayelsa Queens emerged victorious, amassing 10 points to top the Super Six standings, finishing ahead of Nasarawa Amazons after an emphatic 4-1 win over Naija Ratels on Saturday.
Honorable Igali, in a personally signed felicitation message, lauded the team’s inspiring victory, emphasizing that the win not only showcases their talent and resilience but also solidifies their position as a formidable side that will represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League with high expectations.
“I want to praise the players for their exceptional skills, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament. Their performances reflect the hard work and dedication of the athletes, coaching staff, management, and everyone involved,” Igali stated.
The commissioner dedicated the victory to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, commending their unwavering commitment to sports development in the state.
“This remarkable victory is a testament to the steadfast support we have received from their leadership, as they always match their words with action,” he added.
Beyond the celebrations, Honorable Igali highlighted the broader significance of this achievement, acknowledging its role in preparing Bayelsa Queens to give Nigeria a strong representation at the continental level—a stage where the club holds the highest finish among Nigerian women’s teams.
“This success serves as a powerful example of what can be accomplished with hard work, dedication, and passion. However, as we celebrate, we must remember that this is only the beginning—there is much work ahead,” he concluded.
