The Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Bayelsa State, Hon. Daniel Igali, has expressed unwavering support for the state’s contingent as they depart Yenagoa for Uyo, where they will compete in the Niger Delta Sports Festival from April 1-9, 2025.
Commending the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for organizing the event, Igali highlighted its fairness and inclusivity. “Unlike other sports festivals where contingent sizes vary drastically, this festival ensures a level playing field by allowing equal numbers from each state,” he remarked.
He conveyed Governor Douye Diri’s blessings to the athletes, urging them to uphold integrity and sportsmanship. “This is a fantastic opportunity for exposure, and we hope to leverage it as preparation for the National Sports Festival in Ogun next month,” he added.
While emphasizing that development takes precedence over medals, Igali assured that Bayelsa’s athletes are ready to compete fiercely. “We are here to represent our state with pride, maintain our sporting reputation, and deliver a strong performance,” he stated.

Wishing the contingent success, he encouraged them to be exemplary ambassadors of Bayelsa and the Ijaw Nation.
