The Commissioner for Sports Development of Bayelsa State, Honourable Daniel Igali, has extended his heartfelt goodwill to the Bayelsa contingent as they set off for the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Led by Sir Braveman Eredoye Wodi, Director of Sports at the Bayelsa State Sports Council, the delegation left Yenagoa on Friday with high hopes. In his farewell address, Honourable Igali emphasized the unwavering support of the state and expressed optimism about the challenges ahead. He noted that even though some athletes may be representing Bayelsa for the first time, the tournament provides a prime opportunity for them to make both themselves and the state proud.
Igali urged the team to build on Bayelsa’s impressive track record in previous tournaments and deliver a performance that will establish Bayelsa as the best in Nigeria. “Let me remind you that you are carrying the hopes and aspirations of Bayelsa. Our governor is very optimistic about a successful outing and is committed to encouraging you to excel without any hindrance,” he declared.
Wishing the team a safe journey to Ogun, Igali also reminded them to continue being stellar ambassadors for a state that has become a household name in the sports industry. Bayelsa, which finished second at the last edition of the Nigerian Olympic Games in Asaba, Delta State, in 2022, is poised for even greater success this year.
