The Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa State, Daniel Igali, has lauded the Prosperity Government, led by Governor Douye Diri, for its steadfast commitment to socio-economic progress through sports initiatives over the past five years.
In a statement released on Friday to mark the first anniversary of Governor Diri’s second term and the fifth anniversary of his administration, Igali praised the government’s transformative impact on the state’s development.
Igali emphasized the Prosperity Government’s dedication to empowering youth both within Bayelsa State and across Nigeria, underscoring the role of sports in driving sustainable development. He described Governor Douye Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as beacons of positive change, who have touched millions of lives throughout the country.
The Olympic and world champion further noted that since its inception, the Prosperity Government has consistently worked towards uplifting young people by providing opportunities through sports programs and policies aimed at creating wealth and opportunity.
Igali also highlighted the state’s recent move to construct a state-of-the-art FIFA-approved stadium, which he views as a testament to the government’s dedication to attracting further socio-economic development to Yenagoa, the capital of the Ijaw Nation.
