Crusaders FC of Peretorugbene have been crowned 2025 champions of Ekeremor Local Government Area in Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament — the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, popularly known as the Prosperity Cup.

Crusaders FC clinched a narrow 1–0 victory over Youbolobo FC of Agge in a thrilling final held at the Ayamasa Field, with Vincent Great netting the decisive goal late in the match to secure the title.

They now join Adaka FC of Kaiama—winners of the Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA final after a 3–1 win over Sampou FC—as confirmed qualifiers for the tournament’s highly anticipated Round of 32.

Officials Commend Performance and Grassroots Impact

Ekeremor LGA Chairman, Hon. Onniye Isaac, commended both finalists for their skillful display, describing them as true ambassadors of the local government. He encouraged the teams to make Ekeremor proud in the next phase of the tournament, and called on youths to embrace sports—particularly football—as a viable career path, declaring, “Football is big business.”

He also extended appreciation to Governor Douye Diri and the organizers of the Prosperity Cup for providing a platform for youth empowerment through sports.

In a post-match interview, Crusaders FC Assistant Coach, Nelson Abuwa, expressed joy over the team’s victory and noted that their focus has now shifted to preparation for the Round of 32.

Meanwhile, Youbolobo FC Head Coach, Nayo Ojay, acknowledged the loss but said reaching the LGA final for the first time in the club’s history was a proud achievement. He added that the experience has better prepared the team for tougher challenges ahead.
