The Bayelsa State Government, through the Ministry of Sports Development, and Bayelsa United Football Club, unveiled Ladan Bosso as their new head coach. Also introduced was Whyte Ogbonda, who will lead the state-owned female team, Bayelsa Queens, following the recent passing of their manager, Domo Okara.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Yenagoa on Tuesday, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, represented by his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakp, stated that the appointments of Ladan Bosso and Whyte Ogbonda demonstrate the state’s readiness to compete at all levels. Senator Ewhrudjakpo described the hiring of these experienced tacticians as a strategic move to rejuvenate the teams and build on their rich history.

“Our previous coaches performed admirably, but we believe we can achieve more. That’s why we’ve decided to bring in experienced coaches like Ladan Bosso, known for his pedigree, and Whyte Ogbonda. We are prepared to excel in sports,” said Senator Ewhrudjakpo.

The Commissioner for Sports Development, Bayelsa State, Hon. Daniel Igali, highlighted the impressive track records of Ladan Bosso and Whyte Ogbonda, emphasizing their ability to nurture young talents and strengthen the clubs.

“Ladan Bosso and Whyte Ogbonda are highly accomplished coaches in the league, and we expect them to elevate United and Queens significantly in the League,” said Igali. “Our goal is continental football, which I believe they are capable of achieving, and we are confident in their abilities.”

In his remarks, Ladan Bosso, a former Flying Eagles coach with experience managing several NPFL clubs including Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists, Abia Warriors, and El-Kanemi Warriors, expressed confidence in his team’s prospects for the upcoming NPFL season and beyond.

“This is our profession, and we will perform to the best of our abilities. This is my second stint at Bayelsa United, and I recall our previous success in securing a continental spot. I am optimistic that we will surpass that achievement this time,” Bosso hinted.
