Bayelsa United gets second away draw of the season in Katsina

Bayelsa United earned themselves an important point away from home for the second game in a row as they played out a 1-1 draw against Katsina United at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

Bayelsa United earned themselves an important point away from home for the second game in a row as they played out a 1-1 draw against Katsina United at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The Prosperity Boys as instructed by their Chief Coach Meremu Okara came out all guns blazing in the first 20 minutes of the game as Katsina United’s Central African Republic International Goalkeeper Alladun Kolimba  produced numerous saves to keep his team in the game.

The Boys from Yenagoa outplayed and out-thought their host for much of the first half and was rewarded on the 42nd minute of the first half when Midfielder pounced on a loosed ball to score his first goal of the season.

The home side pushed for the equalizer but was denied by a compact and resolute defensive duo of Captain Gabriel Biriduba and Arise Ogundare. They held on to go into the first half break a goal up to the dismay of the home fans.

Katsina United Technical Crew wasted no time in making their first change of the game by bringing on three players. 

And they got the reward of their substitutions after Haruna Bello finished off a cross from a controversial circumstances. But the Centre Referee waved away any protest from the away team.

Both sides had more chances to win the game, but it was the visitors that had the better of the chances as Kehinde Malik and Ofem Nneoye were unlucky not to give the away side the lead for the second time in the game.

Speaking with Journalists in attendance after the game, Katsina United Coach Bashir Sadauki said that after getting a draw in their last game, his team thought that they’ll get a win at home. Though there are still lots of matches to be played but they should be winning their home games.

His counterpart Meremu Okara said that he was very happy with his boys for playing to instructions and also playing with heart in a difficult away ground. 

He added that though his team deserved to win the game based on the number of chances they had but overall he was satisfied with the point. 

Bayelsa United will next week take on Abia Warriors at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa while Katsina United will travel to the Onikan Stadium to take on Sporting Lagos.
