In a spectacular Matchday 38 showdown at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa United wrapped up their 2024/25 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over league champions Remo Stars, proving their mettle against the best.

Before kickoff, The Prosperity Boys displayed sportsmanship and class, forming a guard of honour to recognize Remo Stars’ title-winning triumph—a gesture that highlighted the spirit of respect and rivalry in Nigerian football.
Dominance from Start to Finish
Bayelsa United took control early, showcasing poise, precision, and dominance in midfield. Though Remo Stars attempted to dictate play, their possession remained largely restricted to their half, unable to break through Bayelsa’s defensive resilience.
The deadlock was broken just before halftime in the 44th minute, as a powerful strike from Ifeanyi Ogba was parried straight into the path of Rabiu Abdullahi, who reacted instinctively to slot home, sending the home fans into a frenzy.
Second Half Brilliance
Bayelsa United kept Relentless pressure on the champions, forcing them into defensive errors. In the 56th minute, Ogba came agonizingly close to doubling the lead, only to be denied by a brilliant save. Four minutes later, he turned provider, slipping in Yahaya, who missed a golden opportunity with just the keeper to beat.
The hosts remained composed, and their persistence paid off in the 84th minute, when Abdullahi completed his brace, courtesy of a well-timed assist from Ofem.
The icing on the cake came deep into stoppage time—92nd minute—as Yahaya redeemed himself, calmly finishing off a stunning team move to seal Bayelsa United’s perfect farewell to the season.
Celebrating the Loyal Fanbase
Following the final whistle, Dr. Tarilaye Nwenkwe, Chairman of Bayelsa United, alongside the club’s management, rewarded the loyal supporters by distributing 100 official jerseys in a raffle draw—a token of appreciation for their unwavering support throughout the season.
With this statement victory, Bayelsa United not only closed the season on a high, but they also sent a strong message ahead of next season—they are ready to challenge for glory!
