Scores self high on performance as he Sends coaches and athletes to National and international institutions to build human capital development :
The chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Mr Stow Amaebi on Thursday 11th January 2023 held a reception in honor of the Para Table tennis athletes that Participated at the 2023 National Para Sports games which took place in Abuja on the 8th- 17th December 2023.
The chairman said on a 10 point scale, he would score himself 9 while expressing his delight at the Para Table Tennis Team’s performance at the National Para-Sports games where para table tennis athletes contributed to the medal haul of Bayelsa State. It would be recalled that Bayelsa state placed first Position in the sports fiesta with Para table tennis registering two gold medals for Bayelsa state. He noted that the Table tennis association will give the needed attention to the para table tennis athletes because of their performances at the national championships.
The chairman also informed his audience of the plans by the state Table Tennis Association under his leadership aimed at building the intellectual and human capital development of Table tennis athletes and coaches accross the State through the sponsorship of athletes and coaches to schools in and outside the country.
The Bayelsa state Table Tennis Association chairman, further noted that through the Table Tennis Association’s sponsorship, Coach Adebayor and Abadi Azibalua will be admitted to study advanced sports coaching and Professional coaching courses at the National institute for sports, lagos and Ghana respectively.
The chairman further noted that three athletes namely Samuel Boboye who is the state Table tennis team Captain and a member of the Nigeria national table tennis team alongside Mathew John, Isaac Boye and Nicodemus Debekeme are already enrolled as students of the Benson Idahosa University courtesy of the Bayelsa State Table tennis association’s sponsorship.
The reception in honor of the Para table tennis athletes was well attended by the Ag. Secretary of the Bayelsa State sports council, Dr Okoro Linus Egbe,H.O.D coaching, Miss Catherine Sasuode, staff and members of the Bayelsa state sports council , athletes and sports enthuasists across the state .
A cash sum of Two hundred thousand Naira was given as award to the Para athletes. While the sum of Five Hundred thousand was also given to cover the admission expenses of the Sponsorship of Two Table tennis coaches to coaching courses. The cheque was presented by Dr. Okoro Linus Egbe.
In his Good will messages, the Ag. Secretary of council,Dr Okoro Linus Egbe noted that the acts of the chairman and his vice are exceptional. He admonished the character of the chairman and thanked him for all his assistance to both the Athletics and coaches .
In her own Goodwill message, the H.O.D coaching, Miss Catherine Sasuode , noted that she was speechless while recounting how athletes of old suffered without efficient rewards and support from the public as the present crop of Table tennis athletes had with the good deeds and support from Mr Amaebi stove who chairs the state Athletics association.
The Para Table team also presented, a gift to the state table tennis association chair. In her speech during the presentation of the gift , the Secretary of the Bayelsa State Para Table tennis association , Mrs Stella James Didei thanked the chairman for his support to the team and prayed that God protects the chairman and keep him and his family in good health.
