Bayelsa Queens FC continued their dominant run at the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, making it three wins out of three with a convincing 4-1 victory over Sam-Nelly FC of Benin Republic on Saturday in Yamoussoukro.

The Nigerian champions, now firmly atop Group B with 9 points, showcased their attacking firepower once again, led by a brilliant brace from forward Janet Akekoromowei, who was named Player of the Match.
Akekoromowei opened the scoring in the 14th minute, setting the tone early for the Prosperity Girls. Shakirat Moshood doubled the lead in the 35th minute with a composed finish, before Sam-Nelly pulled one back through Kalu Favour in the 44th minute, making it 2-1 at halftime.
Bayelsa Queens resumed the second half with intent. Alaba Olabiyi restored the two-goal cushion in the 55th minute, and just four minutes later, Akekoromowei sealed her brace with a clinical strike, putting the result beyond doubt.
The win follows earlier victories in the group stage, where Bayelsa Queens scored five and conceded two prior to Saturday’s clash—showcasing not only their offensive prowess but also growing cohesion as a unit.
While Sam-Nelly showed flashes of quality, it was the more experienced and organized Bayelsa side that claimed all three points after 90 minutes.
