In a vibrant night of glitz, gratitude, and glory, Bayelsa Queens Football Club was the center of celebration as the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, hosted a special awards ceremony to honor the team’s outstanding performances during the 2024/2025 NWFL season.

Held in the presence of top government officials and the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports Development, the event radiated with team spirit, recognition, and renewed motivation—highlighting the values of unity and sporting excellence.

The night began with the arrival of the Deputy Governor, followed by inspiring opening remarks from the Commissioner for Sports Development, Champion Hon. Daniel Igali (Oly). In his speech, the Commissioner applauded the Queens for their commitment and achievements, officially unveiling the inaugural Players’ Choice Awards—an exciting new category where winners were voted by the players themselves.

Deputy Governor’s Awards — 2024/2025 NWFL Season

  • Best Teammate: Vera Samuel
  • Best Defender: Jennifer Oliver
  • Best Goalkeeper: Monle Omini
  • Best Midfielder: Doshima Tannum
  • Most Valuable Player (MVP): Doshima Tannum

Midfield sensation Doshima Tannum emerged as the star of the night, bagging both Best Midfielder and the coveted MVP title—an emphatic recognition of her pivotal role and season-long brilliance.

Each award recipient was gifted ₦50,000, while the MVP, Doshima, received ₦100,000 in appreciation of her stellar efforts. The Deputy Governor called for the institutionalization of the awards, encouraging the extension of similar recognitions to Bayelsa United FC and other state teams to foster a culture of sporting excellence.

🇳🇬 Looking Ahead: Continental Ambitions

Delivering the vote of thanks, Club Chairman Mr. Robin Apreala praised the unshakable unity and drive within the team. He boldly declared Bayelsa Queens’ sights set on CAF Women’s Champions League glory, promising fans that the team would bring home the continental trophy.
