The night began with the arrival of the Deputy Governor, followed by inspiring opening remarks from the Commissioner for Sports Development, Champion Hon. Daniel Igali (Oly). In his speech, the Commissioner applauded the Queens for their commitment and achievements, officially unveiling the inaugural Players’ Choice Awards—an exciting new category where winners were voted by the players themselves.

The Deputy Governor called for the institutionalization of the awards, encouraging the extension of similar recognitions to Bayelsa United FC and other state teams to foster a culture of sporting excellence.
