Bayelsa State’s contingent has touched down in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of the much-anticipated MoC/MTN Champs athletics finals—a four-day event that promises electrifying performances across multiple categories.

With 19 registered athletes, Team Bayelsa is set to compete in various disciplines, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, relays, and long jump. The squad features talents across four divisions: Senior, Junior (U-20), Youth (U-17), and Cadet (U-14).

Bayelsa’s Sprint Stars Set to Shine

Bayelsa’s finest sprinters, Daje Lucky, Sophia Efetobore, and young prospect Ebimoboere Christopher of SamKay Athletics Academy, have already arrived in Uyo, preparing to defend their titles in the 100m and 200m races.

Middle-distance sensation Samson Teibowei, an Odi-born talent who secured silver in the Benin edition, has his eyes set on gold in the 800m Junior category, determined to upgrade his podium finish.
