After the final medal ceremony in swimming at the ongoing Youth Games, the Alfred-Olajide sisters have promised even greater achievements in future competitions.

Fifteen-year-old Atinuke Alfred-Olajide captured gold in both the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events, while her 13-year-old sister, Boluwatife Alfred-Olajide, followed suit with gold medals in the same disciplines.

Atinuke Alfred-Olajide expressed her profound joy after topping her two main events and vowed to continue honing her skills.

“I’m thrilled to have won gold in both events,” she said. “I’m grateful for this achievement and am committed to further improving my performance. Bayelsa State should expect remarkable things from me as I continue to train hard. I’m eager to make my state and my country proud.”

Boluwatife Alfred-Olajide shared her excitement about her victories, noting the boost it gives to her development.

“I’m really happy with my gold medals; I knew I could do it,” she said. “The expectations for our family are high now, but I’m determined to keep improving and working hard. I see myself competing in many international events and possibly the Olympics in the future.”

Overall, Team Bayelsa earned a total of four gold, two silver, and one bronze medal in the swimming events at the Asaba 2024 Youth Games.
