Tournament favorites and highest-scoring team, Agbere FC, faced their toughest test yet in the 2025 Prosperity Cup on Sunday, March 23, at the Sagbama Town Centre. Akeddei FC held them to a 1-1 draw in regulation time before Agbere prevailed 5-3 in the penalty shootout to advance.

Akeddei FC’s Pedimo Ebimos opened the scoring just two minutes in, while Agbere FC equalized in the 43rd minute through Anny Godfrey’s brilliance. Having scored 15 goals in their last two matches, Agbere FC showed resilience in the shootout.

At the Ebedebiri venue, Indomitable FC edged past Angalabiri FC with a slim 1-0 victory, thanks to Kelvin Emmanuel’s 56th-minute strike. Meanwhile, Krusaders FC of Peretorugbene secured a 1-0 win over Samba Boys FC at their Ekeremor fortress, with Wisdom Michael’s 9th-minute goal proving decisive.

The Ogbia Centre witnessed a dramatic 2-1 victory for Jamaica FC over Unmerciful FC of Otuaba. Samuel Izibebemeze and team captain Favour gave Jamaica FC a two-goal lead before Unmerciful FC netted a late consolation.

Otuokpain FC overcame Ayalla FC of Okiki 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate. Kuku scored for Otuokpain, but Okiki leveled through Agala Godgift in the 85th minute, forcing the game into a shootout at the Otuokpoti Centre.

The biggest shock of the tournament came at the Otuokpoti Centre as Austonee Ultimate FC toppled 2023 semi-finalists Anyama FC, winning 3-1 on penalties after a goalless draw.

Elsewhere, at the Imiringi Centre, Malcom FC edged Ewoi FC 2-1. Minadom Daniel and Hope Naldo scored for Malcom, while Emmanuel Frank equalized briefly for Ewoi. At the Otuasega Centre, Federal University, Otuoke defeated Hummel Stars FC 4-2, led by goals from Alama Philip, Kaka Ebiowei, and substitute Prezi Joy.

In the final match of the day at Otuasega, Redeemed Chapel FC dispatched Nigerian Immigrations FC 3-1, with Nathaniel Bassey scoring twice to secure their progress.

At the Agge Centre, Youbolobo FC triumphed 1-0 over Solomon FC, while Orobiri FC edged Amatu FC by the same scoreline to move forward in Nigeria’s premier grassroots football fiesta.
