The Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, affectionately known as the “Prosperity Cup,” is set to kick off its seventh season in February 2025. This is Nigeria’s premier grassroots football event and a cornerstone of sports development in the region.
According to the tournament’s Director-General, Mr. Ono Akpe, and the Tournament Director, Mr. Perela Aboroson, registration forms will be available for purchase starting January 6, 2025, at the Prosperity Cup Secretariat within the Ministry of Sports Development. The Prosperity Cup has gained global recognition, reflecting the governor’s “assured prosperity” agenda, which emphasizes the importance of sports. Season seven boasts a total prize pot of ₦50 million, spread across male, female, and para-soccer categories.
